New Forest Junior Athletic Club

VOLUNTARY ROLES

NFJ is run entirely by volunteers.  Whilst these are generally parents of current or past athletes (or in some cases, past athletes themselves) as people come and go, the club is always on the look out for new volunteers.

No knowledge or experience of athletics is required, just a willingness to help, as and when you’re able.  Though for those who wish to get more involved, the club can support you through a range of England Athletics training courses to further your knowledge and experience.

Whilst these voluntary roles are often taken up by parents, they can also provide valuable experience to GSCE / A Level PE students, or make a great weekend hobby for interested grandparents too.

Coaching

The majority of our current coaches started out by raking a sandpit, holding a stopwatch or helping crowd-control the athletes.  If you bring your child to training and tend to stick around, please make it known if you are happy to help.  The more hands on deck the better.

Officiating

Simply put, without officials track & field fixtures don’t happen. Roles range from timekeeping, to replacing the high jump bar, putting hurdles out, to collecting shot put (and everything in between).  If your child is likely to compete on the track during the summer months, please consider officiating in some capacity.

If you are interested in playing a more active role in the club, please speak to any coach.
